About the job

We are looking for a teacher or teaching assistant with qualifications and experience in special needs education to join our preschool.
This is a part-time (79%) temporary position, working hours will be 32 hours per week, for 43 weeks.
We reserve the right to interview and appoint earlier than the closing date if suitable candidates are established.


Responsibilities

The role includes:

  • Providing an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum to children with special educational needs.
  • Raising the standards of achievement for these children within the preschool curriculum (Early Years Foundation Stage/ Norwegian Rammeplan for Barnehager / International Baccalaureate Early Years).
  • Setting learning goals and monitoring, supporting, assessing, evaluating and reporting on each child’s progress.
  • Overseeing the education and training of children with physical, emotional, mental, and learning disabilities who have been allocated resources according to the Kindergarten Act (Barnehageloven §19a).
  • Providing support and feedback to parents.
  • Participation in the realisation of the Preschool's objectives related to special educational needs.
  • Supervising and training other pre-school staff in supporting children with special needs.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor in Pedagogy or Special Needs Education, with HKDir recognition is preferred. Relevant experience can compensate for missing qualifications in some circumstances.
  • Good English skills, both written and oral (Minimum B2).

  • Has demonstrated skills in building a caring, nurturing and creative learning environment
  • Has a collaborative and consultative approach when working in teams
  • Has demonstrated skills in building positive relationships with parents
