The new National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design opened on 11th June 2022 and is the largest art museum in the Nordic countries. The National Museum’s mandate is to develop, conserve, research, make available and promote public knowledge about Norway’s largest collection of art, architecture and design.

The National Museum has a significant historical frame collection spanning six centuries, featured in both our internal exhibitions and frequently requested for loans.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced frame conservator to take responsibility for the care and preservation of this historical collection. The position will provide a unique opportunity to establish frame conservation as a professional field both at the National Museum and in Norway.
The successful candidate will conduct frame condition assessments, make treatment recommendations, and carry out necessary treatments to ensure the safe display, transport, and storage of frames in the collection. Working within a dynamic environment alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary team of conservators, curators, and technicians, this role will contribute to exhibitions, loans, storage, and other relevant projects as agreed with the supervisor.
