UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, has a Research position available for a period of 3 years affiliated with the Drug Transport and Delivery Research group and project Smart nanotechnology for pulmonary delivery of new generation antimicrobial peptides to combat respiratory superinfections (SNAPPS).
The position is available for commencement from May 2025.
The Department of Pharmacy consists of seven research groups: Drug Transport and Delivery, Cell Signalling and Targeted Therapy, Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology, Infection Biology, and Computational Pharmacology. The Department has around 30 permanent positions. In addition, there is a variable number of PhD students, postdocs and part time positions. The Department is responsible for a bachelor’s and a master’s program in pharmacy. Teaching is given at both undergraduate and graduate levels. For more information, visit the Department’s web pages: https://uit.no/farmasi
The Drug Transport and Delivery Research group currently consist of two professors and two associate professors, two technicians as well as several PhD students/PostDocs. In addition, an externally funded young investigator’s group is also a part on scientific environment. The members of the research group are, in addition to research, also responsible for courses in pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics at bachelor, master and PhD level. You can learn more about the research group by visiting the Drug Transport and Delivery Research Group (DTD) | UiT. The project is a collaborative project with the industrial partners, and is thus a multidisciplinary project funded by Norwegian Research Council.
The research project is focused on pulmonary delivery of liposomes to lower respiratory tract for efficient delivery of novel antimicrobials. We aim to develop advanced delivery systems comprising proprietary antimicrobials with antiviral and antibacterial properties. The project involves multidisciplinary research within the fields of drug delivery, nanotechnology, microbiology and product development. The industrial partners will be actively involved in the project by imparting the industrial relevance and opportunity for commercialization.
We strongly encourage career development not only limited to authorship of research manuscripts arising from this work, but also including conferences and networking.
