Who are we looking for?

We want curious, service-minded and trustworthy certified tour guides to join our team in Bergen.

To be hired as a guide with Norwegian Guide Service you must be a certified guide with a comprehensive guide certification covering Norway and Vestland region. If you are not currently certified, that is not a problem. We still want you to apply! We will be happy to support you through the certification process and we offer sponsored certification for those who commit to working with us for the entire season.

Language and communication abilities are key to this position. You need to have an excellent command of English and be able to communicate fluently in one or more of the following languages: German, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch, Portuguese. Norwegian is not a requirement but is an advantage.

For fluency you will need to be between B1 and C2 on the European Self assessment chart, however you should feel confident to guide in the languages you advise.

Arbeidsoppgaver

As an NGS Guide, you will be responsible for providing informative, engaging, and safe tours to guests from around the world and primarily cruise ship passengers who dock in Bergen. Your role will involve sharing your knowledge and passion for Bergen's history, culture, and landmarks while ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of our guests and the smooth functioning of our logistics.

Among your tasks will be:

• confirming and updating your booking schedule

• meeting, leading and looking after groups of guests on guided tours lasting between 2 and 9 hours

• following and adapting predetermined route plans

• providing guests with enriching stories and information related to the visited destinations

• coordinating the logistics of transportation, venue visits

• enhancing the guest experience with your own personality and creativity

• contributing to the improvement of our products and operations together with the management team and partners

• Higher payment for tours starting in locations outside of Bergen and paid travel time.

• Two types of contracts both include holiday pay and sick leave rights : one with a guaranteed minimum of 100 hours per month , and another with a more flexible, on-call arrangement.

• For Guides who will commit to working with us for the entire main season (May-September/October), we will offer to sponsor their Guide Certification with Guide Academy.

• Comprehensive paid training about the specific routines and procedures for company specific assignments and our logistics.

• Support in finding housing and navigating the Norwegian tax system in case of relocation from abroad.
